The Olaju Art Group presents a lecture and panel discussion centered on a collection of carvings created by Nigerian master-sculptor, Jimoh Ighodalo. This presentation provides a cultural analysis of Ighodalo’s most recent body of work. On display will be an original series of 4 wooden panels hand-carved to illustrate facts and mythology concerning his hometown of Benin City, Nigeria. The analysis will be followed by a discussion exploring perceptions of contemporary art and the position of African artists.
