A San Antonio Tradition that our family does every year. Some of these Christmas decorations are really over the top! We love turning a corner and having our heart jump at the elaborate Christmas Display around the corner. We always pick up a map so that we can find the winners. We try to visit on a weeknight for less traffic.

Windcrest is adjacent to the Interstate 35/Loop 410 interchange in NE San Antonio.

People decorate their homes with elaborate displays of holiday lights. Light Up begins with an opening ceremony in mid-December and lasts through New Year’s Eve.

MAPS with the location of the Light Up winners and the categories each has won are available to the public at Windcrest City Hall located at 8601 Midcrown Dr.
This year is the 56th Annual Light Up celebration for Windcrest. A contest is held to pick the most beautifully decorated homes in various judging categories and the public is invited to drive along neighborhood streets to view the brightly-lit displays. This event is made possible through numerous volunteers, the Windcrest Economic Development Corporation and the Windcrest Women's Club.

Thousands of visitors from San Antonio and the surrounding area come to see the free lighting event every year.
